The Ugly Christmas jumper (sweater, if you’re American). It’s never really been my thing but I understand why some people take the opportunity to wear an item of clothing they could never get away with wearing any other time of the year.

Personally, the last thing I want, after consuming my own weight in Christmas dinner and mince pies, is to see myself ensconced in something that is bulky and ugly, even if it is whimsical. I’m vain that way.

This week, Walmart has received some flack for putting on sale a jumper depicting a deliriously happy Santa with lines of coke in front of him.

My thought is that they rolled out this jumper to the wrong market. Some people in Britain would find this hilarious and probably buy it for their friends and their ‘cool dads’. Of course, Walmart offered an apology but in my opinion, they should have owned it and explained that it wasn’t for kids, or family gatherings but for grown-ups, dark-humoured people, the British!

After all, the product didn’t just arrive on the shelves by themselves. A team of people must have approved it for sale. Or was it all a publicity stunt? Hmm… I wonder…
